Class
Each posture is followed by a brief relaxation, during which the body can process the benefits of the preceding pose. The class lasts ninety minutes, and is performed in a room heated to 40 degrees centigrade.
Bikram Yoga is something that needs a few classes to get used to. Once you have got used to the heat (which will take three or four classes done over no more than a couple of weeks) and your body has gone through the initial opening up and detoxification stages (which can be a little unpleasant!) you will start feeling the incredible health benefits that this miraculous system has to offer.
It is completely normal to feel a bit daunted by this class, to feel dizzy and even get a detoxification headache, but thousands of people that have got through the hardest beginning stages will attest to the amazing results. It is really is worth it!
You need to be hydrated for class, so drink a lot of water
during the 24-hours beforehand.
We also advise you not to eat in the two hours before class;
what you want to avoid is practising on either a full
or an entirely empty stomach.
Feel free to sit down whenever you feel like it; even athletes do this at first,
it is nothing to feel bad about! Do however try to stay in the room.
The most important thing to remember is to take it easy and to attend regularly-
in three weeks you will already be seeing and feeling a big difference!
